WHY YOU SHOULD SPEND MORE TIME OUTDOORS
During the Covid-19 pandemic, we got used to spending more time at home. Even after the easing of this crisis and curfews, everything has shifted towards the online regime. Now everyone can play Play Amo in the comfort of their own homes.
There is no need to leave the house anymore. You can work from home, study, order food, anything you want or need, you can do from your bed. This is very convenient and time-saving, but it is also very dangerous. A human body needs to move. That does not mean you have to be an athlete. Just get out of your house and your comfort zone once in a while.
It can have a very negative effect on your health if you do not leave the house. Both mentally and physically. So do not underestimate the importance of being outside and breathing fresh air.
In 2019, 45% of adults in Europe had a normal weight. More than half of the population, about 53%, were considered overweight, 36% were preadipose, 17% were obese, and almost 3% were underweight, as measured by their body mass index.
BMI is a measure of a person’s weight in relation to their height, which is fairly well related to body fat percentage. You can use this value to determine which category you fit into. With the exception of those over 75, the older the age group, the higher the proportion of overweight people: the lowest proportion was recorded among 18-24-year-olds at around 25%, while 65-74-year-olds had the highest proportion at around 66% – a similar pattern was observed for obesity rates, which were 6% versus 22%.
These figures are a cause for concern. Croatia and Malta have the highest proportion of people with a high BMI. Italy and Norway, on the other hand, are among the countries with the lowest. It also showed that men are far more at risk for this disease than women. This should motivate everyone to get outside.
There are so many things to do and see outside. If you get up early, you can catch the sunrise. An incredible view will give you the perfect start to your day. Or if you have a break from work or university, why not go for a walk? You do not have to go jogging, but your legs will appreciate every step.
It is good for your ankles, burns some calories, and clears your head. You cannot work all day long. Everyone deserves a break.
If you get bored easily, you can sign up for various outdoor exercise classes. For example, you can do yoga with others in the morning or join a stretching class. You will meet new people and do something for your figure. The most important thing is that you do it regularly. Nothing gets better if you only do it once.
WHERE TO GO
There are several ways to go outside. Either you just walk on the street or visit a park. If it is far away, you can ride your bike or use public transportation. Get together with friends and enjoy a nice afternoon. Or play sports together. However, it is difficult to talk while jogging.
So why not go to the swimming pool? You can swim and stay in the water, which is good for your back while talking to your friends.
Or just sit outside and enjoy the sun. Even if it is winter and cold, you can build a snowman or walk in the snow. There are no limits. Just do what you want, but do not just stay home and be bored.
